Dear Mr. Day, <br /> <br />The Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety (DRMS) has reviewed the response to the August 4, <br />2008 Notice of Deficiency for the Notice of Intent to Conduct Prospecting Operations (NOI), No. P- <br />2008-046, submitted by Western Water and Land, Inc. August 18, 2008. The application cannot be <br />approved until the following issues are adequately addressed. Please submit a response to the following <br />issues as soon as possible but no later than September 26, 2008, so the decision date of October 3, 2008 <br />can be met. If your response, or a written request for an extension of the decision date, is not received by <br />September 26, 2008 then the request for the modification may be denied. <br />1) In Section 2.0 SURFACE WATER, on page 2, there is a typographical error or omission; "The <br />sites will be marked in the field, and the Global Positioning System (GPS) location of each site <br />will be recorded. " Please correct the sentence to state what the sites will be marked with. <br />2) If micro purging sampling is to be performed on wells without the use of dedicated pumps, what <br />will be the time interval between pump installation and sampling? <br />3) For the micro purge method, at what depth below the static water level will the sampling pump <br />be engaged? <br />4) For micro-purging, what changes in water quality parameters are expected during the 5-10 <br />minute monitoring intervals and how will they affect the method and timing of sample <br />collection? <br />5) If dedicated equipment is used in micro-purging, the pump and tubing must be initially purged to <br />remove any stagnant water in the apparatus.
