X'~
~ Gunnison Conservation District
216 North Colorado, Gunnison, Colorado 81230 • (970) 642-4461
Y
September 17, 2008
Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety
1313 Sherman St., Room 215
Denver, CO 80203
Dear Board Members,

~,~~€~~Icg ~a~~~ ~v~~Yy
.~
RE: LKA International Inc., Golden Wonder Mine, Permit No. M-1978-091-UG
The Gunnison Conservation District in reviewing the proposed amendment did not see any
reference to future site reclamation/revegetation. The District would just like to make sure that
reclamation/revegetation does expand with this amendment to areas of new disturbance. The
main concerns of course are soil erosion, water quality and the spread of invasive species.
We imagine with the level of oversight that has taken place in recent past that the Bureau of
Land Management as well as the Division of Reclamation,lVlining and Safety have already kept
this in mind when evaluating any future actions of this proposed mine activity.
We know that everyone concerned is taking into account the long-term future of our natural
resources and how extraction activities can occur as one of a the multiple-uses out on the land.
If you have any questions, please contact us at, 970-641-0494
Sincerely,
~ ~/~
Jim Cochran, President
Gunnison Conservation District
Cc: Gunnison Field Office, Bureau of Land Management
CONSERVATION • DEVELOPMENT •SELF-GOVERNMENT
