EXHIBIT T - REVISED DESIGNATED MINING OPERATION ENVIRONMENTAL
PROTECTION PLAN
(1) Demonstrated Compliance with the Act
An Environmental Protection Plan for the Golden Wonder Site was initially submitted in June,
1997 by Au Mining. This EPP describes general methods by which hazardous materials are
managed at the facility. The magnitude of activity at the Golden Wonder has not significantly
changed since Au Mining's departure. Similarly, the amounts and types of hazardous materials
that are present have not changed significantly. None-the-less, a considerable amount of effort is
being put towards the control and abatement of potential acid generation created as a result of
water contact with the acid-bearing waste rock.
Water is being actively managed at the Golden Wonder site by several methods: a) stormwater
control, b) isolation of Deadman Gulch flows, and c) retainment of underground water. All three
of these methods keep water from contacting the waste rock. These same methods will be
maintained in the future, and amended where needed. As previously mentioned, the hydrologic
system related to the site is being thoroughly evaluated to determine if there are other flow
pathways of concern or not. The results of these studies will be used to determine suitable next
steps for any additional water control where needed.
Several new stormwater controls have been placed which enhance the historic EPP. The accress
road now contains a series of stormwater culverts, as well as a well-maintained run-on ditch. It
is highly unlikely that any road-related stormwater ever reaches the Level 6 pad. In addition, the
Level 6 pad has been capped with inert material obtained from Level 3. This barrier helps
prohibit any direct precipitation contact with the underlying waste rock material.
The current and future activities at the site will not introduce any new impoundments, pads or
storage areas. The site will maintain a relatively consistent amount of activity as noted in the
past.
(2) Maps
The site maps were previously provided within this Attachment.
(3) Other Agency Monitoring
The Golden Wonder is continuously monitored to evaluate potential impacts primarily related to
water. LKA Int. inc. representatives sample site features both at the surface and underground as
part of the annual DRMS permit requirements. Additional sites are sampled to help answer other
agency concerns regarding potential site impacts to groundwater. These sites include down-
gradient wells, resident potable wells, and downgradient mine features.
17
