??7?p? 61 1 Skyline Road - Laramie, WY 82070 - (307) 742-0031
V V V VCENGINEERING FAX (307) 721-2913 - E-mail: infolar@wwcengineering.com
September 18, 2008
State of Colorado
Office of the State Engineer
821 Centennial Building RECEIVED
1313 Sherman Street
Denver, Colorado 80203 i
RE: Edna Mine PN C-80-001; Registration of Existing Wells
Office of the State Engineer:
Chevron Mining Inc. (Chevron) has contracted WWC Engineering (WWC) to assist in attaining bond release for
the former Edna Mine, Permit Number C-80-001, located in Routt County, Colorado. The Edna Mine is in
permanent cessation, reclamation is nearly complete, and the site is approaching potential final bond release.
Prior to and during mining activities numerous monitoring wells were drilled within and extending outside of the
permit boundary. The monitoring wells are constructed of steel/PVC casing ranging in diameter from 1"-7" and
depth from tens to hundreds of feet. The construction of the monitoring wells was for observation not
production. The monitoring wells had numerous purposes including attaining water level and/or water quality
data. The referred monitoring wells have since been removed from the Edna Mine groundwater monitoring
program. The monitoring wells are located in T 4 & 5 N, R 85 & 86 W, Routt County, Colorado.
Seven (7) monitoring wells are to Transfer Ownership in accordance with state regulations under this cover; 05-
01-0007, GMC3, UNK3, Oka, OK2, GMC2 and 05-03-0005. The monitoring wells are not registered and
therefore, according to verbal communication with the Colorado Office of the State Engineer (CSEO), Forms
GWS-12 (Registration of Existing Well) and GWS-68 (Existing Well Information) were completed and mailed
08/26/08. This submittal is in response to a determination by CSEO dated 08/27/08 that Forms GWS-46
(Monitoring/Observation Water Well Permit Application) and GWS-68 are more applicable to this scenario. The
appropriate Forms and Filing Fee (Attachment A) are enclosed under this cover.
Should the Colorado Office of the State Engineer have any comments or concerns regarding this submittal, please
contact me or Troy Summers at your convenience.
Sincerely,
Beth Heesen, P.G.
Project Manager
TNS
Enclosures
File: 99-144
cc: Leach (Chevron), Musick (CDRMS), Weinman (Permit), Dick, Maplewood (Dulan), Hoeptner (Hayden),
Redd
