42.05 APPLICATION FOR PERMIT FOR SURFACE OR ONDERGROUND MINING ACTIVITIES --
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS FOR OPERATION AND RECLAMATION PLANS.
n
2.05.4 Reclamation Plan,
(2) (e) (Cont'd,)
•
(ii) Species and Amount Per Acre
Three planting mixtures will be utilized dur-
ing the reclamation process to achieve the two
post mining land uses (rangeland for livestock
and wildlife grazing, and cropland), The
rangeland planting mir. will be such that a
permanent vegetative cover of the same season-
al variety native to the Orchard Valley and
Orchard Valley West Mines will exist. Topsoil
piles which are projected to be inactive for
greater than five years would be seeded with
the permanent, rangeland planting mix. The
cropland planting mix will be such that the
agricultural productive capacity of the land
is eoual to pre-mining levels. The third mix
will be a temporary seeding mixture utilized
to stabilize soil or areas which will be tem-
porary during the life of Che mine, such as
temporary topsoil piles, and will be replaced
by either the rangeland planting mix or agri-
cultural planting mix, either during or at the
end of mining operations,
The following rangeland planting mix is in-
tended for future use at the Orchard Valley
and Orchard Valley Wesi Mines. As mentioned
in Section 2,05.10 (4), species diversity data
obtained from 3 reference areas in the summers
of 1981 and 1932 were used to develop a recla-
mation seed mixture to better reflect the naC-
ural conditions and post-mine land uses of the
Orchard Valley and Orchard Valley West Mines.
A variety of species are included on the list,
allowing C'dI to choose species, depending on
the price and availability of seed and tubl-
ings, Refer to the Vegetation Appendix in
Volume 9A for specific information on [he de-
velopnent of C'dI's reclamation seed mixture.
List of Species for Permanent Reclamation at
the Orchard Valley and Orchard Valley West
Mines is as follows:
Revised 10/12/86
Revised 10!01187
Revised 03/28/88
69
