MINE ID # OR PROSPECTING ID #: M-198.1109
INSPECTION DATE: -A,1971n8 INSPECTOR=S INITIALS: ?lL1H:I
NIAC
OBSERVATIONS
This was a normal monitoring inspection of the Aldrich Gravel Pit, permit number M-1983-109. 'I'his site is located approximately
three miles north of Galatea, Colorado in Kiowa County. I, Jared Ebert and Michael Cunningham of the Colorado Division of
Reclamation, Mining and Safety conducted the inspection. Virgil and Shane of Kiowa County accompanied us on the inspection.
The proper mine identification sign was in place. The site is comprised of 9.70 acres. and the permit boundary is a circular shape.
The excavation appeared to be within the boundary. The majority of the disturbance lies on the %vesteni of the permit area. 'File
remaining area appears to have been mined some time in the past and is currently covered with Kochia weed. One large bean is in
place around the western excavation. A pile of material that appeared to be topsoil was located on the southeast portion of the permit
area above the current excavation. The pile was not stabilized or protected from water or wind erosion with a vegetative cover as
specified in the approved reclamation plan. This is cited as a problem on the last page of this report.
Overall the operation appears to be proceeding in accordance v. ith the approved mining plan, and no other problems where noticee
figure 3.) %line site looking north
?w^?:•-ti'p'", ??
..i .e?:•2....
1
Figure Z.)
