MINE ID # OR PROSPECTING ID #: M-1983-119
INSPECTION DATE: 8/98.408 INSPECTOR=S INITIALS: &4AC JLE
OBSERVATIONS
This inspection was conducted by Michael Cunningham of DRMS, Jared Ebert of DRMS, and Allen Watts of
Kiowa County. This was a routine monitoring inspection; the last inspection was conducted on July 17, 2008. The
pit is located approximately 6 miles south of Sheridan Lake in Yuma County, Colorado. The permitted acreage
encompasses 9.2 acres. The permit sign was in place at the entrance to the mine site.
At the time of the inspection there was no mining taking place and no equipment was present. The permitted
area of the mine site is round and therefore the permit boundary is difficult to locate. There were boundary
markers on the northeast and the northwest side of the pit. The south side of the permit boundary was
delineated by a large mound in the berm that lies to the outside of the service road. The inspector calculated
the disturbed area using a Trimble GeoXT GPS unit. The disturbed acreage was determined to be
approximately 9.2 acres. Mr. Watts was informed that the mining operation had reached the extent of the
permit boundary and that mining further in any direction would result in mining outside of the permit area. The
Division recommends that the Operator begins taking steps to reclaim the site. Rule 3.1.3 states that
reclamation must be completed within five years from the date that the Operator informs the Board or Office
that mining has been completed.
The topsoil stockpiles were in place along the north boundary of the permit area; they were vegetated and
showed no signs of erosion. There was standing water at the bottom of the pit due to a recent rain event; no
hydrophytic vegetation was observed.
This concluded the inspection.
I & E Contat Address
cc: t CE
NAME: Allen Watts F BL
IF FS
OPERATOR: Kiowa County F HW
STREET: P_n_ Rox 100 r SE WMD (CH)
CITY/STATE/ZIP: Fods, CX) 8103h r WQCD (CH)
F OTHER
