MINE ID # OR PROSPECTING ID #: m-gnnA-n_?5
INSPECTION DATE: 8.49 1/08 INSPECTOR=S INITIALS: n- ^AC./ECS
OBSERVATIONS
The inspection of the Moser Pit was conducted by Michael Cunningham of DRMS, Tony Waldron of DRMS, Eric
Scott of DRMS, and Howard McGuinness of the Yuma County Road and Bridge Department. The Moser Pit is
located approximately 10 miles southwest of Yuma, Colorado on County Road 28. The pit is accessible from a
private access road to the north of County Road 28. The permitted acreage encompasses 38.57 acres. The
public notice sign that was posted at the entrance to the site had been blown off of the fence post. Pieces of
the sign were still visible.
This was a pre-operation inspection conducted by DRMS prior to permit application approval. The land is
currently being used as rangeland by the property owner. There were approximately one dozen cows present
at the time of the inspection. The site was accessed from the private drive by crossing the electric fence. From
there the inspectors proceed north to the southern edge of the permit boundary. The permit boundary was
clearly delineated by metal stakes located at the north, south , east, and west corners of the permit area.
The northwest corner of the permit area contains and old borrow pit, which was never permitted with the
Division. The disturbed area covers approximately 9 acres. The disturbed area was surrounded by an electric
fence to keep the cows out of this pit. The operator estimates that 5.82 acres of the old borrow pit will be
redisturbed. At the time of the inspection there were several inches of standing water in the pit, from a recent
rain event. There were several small stands of cottonwoods growing in the bottom of the pit. No hydrophytic
vegetation was observed in the bottom of the pit. Currently there are highwalls on the north, east, and west
sides of the pit. The highwalls are approximately 20ft. deep. The pit slopes upward to the south. There is a topsoil
stockpile on top of the east highwall that is left over from the excavation of the old borrow pit. The topsoil
stockpile is stable and has vegetative growth on it.
There were no structures visible within 200 ft. of the permit boundary. Much of the grass had been grazed down.
The primary vegetation consisted of Great Plains yucca and sage plants. Based on the observations of this
inspection, there was nothing that would prevent the Division from approving the mining permit. This concluded
the inspection.
I & E Contat Address
NAME: Mark Shaw
OPERATOR: Yuma County
STREET: 1310 RInke St.
CITY/STATE/ZIP: Wray C Q 80758
cc: r CE
F BL
r FS
I- HW
F HMWMD (CH)
F SE
F WQCD (CH)
8 OTHER Steve O'Brian
Environment, Inc.
7985 Vance Dr. #205A
Arvada, CO 80003
