Parameters monitored as a result of TR-54
2. Added to baseline analyses in 1996. Not for analyses completed prior to 1996.
3. All parameters will be analyzed for their dissolved form unless stated otherwise.
As with stream monitoring, portions of the spring monitoring program have been temporarily
suspended until the sums-ner before mining impacts can be expected, at which time monitoring of
the springs will be resumed. In accordance with CDRMS regulations, baseline flows have been
established for all springs at which monitoring has ceased. Since the springs already have adequate
baseline flow records, initiating the monitoring of springs more than a year prior to mining in the
area will have two benefits. First, the data can be used to initially determine whether the
established baseline has changed significantly. Second, the new data will serve to build on the
existing database of pre-mining spring flows.
In the Mimnesota Creek drainage basin, monitoring was discontinued for springs J-4, J-7, J-10 and
WCC-23 until the summner before mining impacts can be expected. Sampling of spring J-4 ;vas
reinitiated in 1996. In 2006, MCC added 5 new spring monitoring sites in the SOD (Deer Creek
Spring and Pipeline, WCC-24, J-2, J-7, and 35-3). In 2007, MCC added 3 additional springs in
w. the Deep Creek drainage (at the request of CDRMS).
