Permit No. M-2002-111,,
Preliminary Adequacy L----'
Dear Mr. Herman:
On August 14, 2008, the Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety reviewed the Brownfield Restoration Group,
LLC application for a 112 Construction Materials Reclamation Permit Technical Revision for the Gilsonite Pit,
Permit No. M-2002-111. A review of the application has revealed a few issues and clarifications to address.
• Please submit to this office a revised mine plan to include a pre-phase to the mine plan that incorporates a
minimal amount of disturbance. This minimal amount of disturbance could be the installation of a gate at
the mine entrance or the grading of a proposed site to build an office or maintenance structure.
The decision date for this application has been set for September 22, 2008 provided all issues have been
addressed. To allow adequate time for staff review the requested information must be received by September 19,
2008. If the requested information is not received by September 18, 2008, the applicant should request an
extension of the decision date.
If you need additional information, please contact me at the Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety, Grand
Junction Field Office, 101 S. 3rd St., Suite 301, Grand Junction, Colorado 81501, telephone no. 970.623.5596.
Sincerely,
Travis Marshall
Environmental Protection Specialist
Cc: Steve Shuey, Senior Environmental Protection Specialist
Gayle Lyman, Elam Construction, Inc.
5TATE OF COLORADO
Office of Office of
Mined Land Reclamation Denver • Grand Junction • Durango Active and Inactive Mines
