2006 Edna Mine Vegetation Sampling Report <br />3. West Ridge Topsoiled BRU <br />The West Ridge Topsoiled BRU encompasses approximately 22 acres. The pre-disturbance <br />vegetation communities were 83% snowberry sage and 17% oak mountain shrub. <br />Eighteen transects were required to obtain sample adequacy for herbaceous cover in this unit. <br />The reclaimed unit's mean herbaceous vegetation cover was 40.0%. This is significantly higher <br />than the mean for the reference area (24.1%). Thus, the West Ridge Topsoiled BRU exceeds <br />the liability release standard for herbaceous cover. <br />Sample adequacy for production was obtained in this unit with 25 transects. Mean herbaceous <br />production was 149.6 g/m2 or 1,334.9 Ibs/ac. This is significantly higher than the mean for the <br />reference area of 41.643 g/m2 (371.6 Ibs/ac). Thus, the West Ridge Topsoiled BRU exceeds the <br />liability release standard for herbaceous production.
