Musick, Jason
From: Troy Summers [tsummers@wwcengineering.com]
Sent: Monday, September 15, 2008 2:18 PM
To: Musick, Jason
Subject: Edna Mine Vegetation Reports
Attachments: 2005 Edna Mine Vegetation Report_DRAFT. pdf; 2006 Edna Mine Vegetation
Report_DRAFT. pdf

2005 Edna Mine 2006 Edna Mine
Vegetation Repo... Vegetation Repo...
Jason,
Attached are two (2) Vegetation Sampling Reports for the Edna Mine. The first is titled
"2005 Edna Mine Vegetation Sampling Report" and is dated 04/27/06. The second is titled
"2006 Edna Mine Vegetation Sampling Report" and dated 10/19/06.
The 2005 report passes all required performance standards.
The 2006 report passes all required performance standards except Cover at West Ridge BRU &
Moffat BRU: No-Topsoil. The 2006 Mean was 30.5% compared with the arbitrary standard of
47%. The 47% Cover value was arbitrarily set in the permit application and it did not
include any allowance for precipitation patterns. During the 2006 growing season, the
region received very little rain. As shown in Table 1-2 of the report, the reference area
vegetation cover values reflect the lower level of herbaceous growth during this year.
The non-topsoiled areas exceeded the standard set by the reference areas for Cover.
A comparison of the non-topsoiled to the reference areas for this season would pass all
vegetation performance standards. A request is hereby set forth to CDRMS to allow a
comparison to the reference areas for the
2006 sampling event.
Please contact me with any questions and/or comments. As you are aware, time is of the
essence if any further field work needs to be accomplished this year.
Thanks for your help with this matter,
Troy
Troy Summers
Associate Geologist
tsummers@wwcengineering.com
WWC Engineering
611 Skyline Road
Laramie, WY 82070
Phone: (307) 742.0031
Fax: (307) 721.2913
www.wwcengineering.com
1
