Page 1
Section 4.03.1
Interoffice MEMORANDUM
to: Joe Dudash (also by e-mail)
from: Byron G. Walker
cc: Dan Hernandez, Sandy Brown (both by e-mail)
subject: Bowie No. 2 Mine, Permit Number C-1996-083, Bowie Resources LLC,
Technical Revision No. 47, Hubbard Creek Vent Shaft and Incidental boundary
Change, Adequacy Review
date: April 4, 2007
This memo is in response to your memorandum of April 4, 2007, same subject. Your request was
to look at the haul road design. This I have done, but added a little too.
Materials reviewed include your memorandum; the J.E. Stover & Associated, Inc letter of March
8, 2007, and the attached Application.
Extra Item 1. During the sinking of the last shaft at Foidel a lot of water was encountered. Foidel
had to obtain a construction dewatering permit from CDPHE. They routed the water through a
sedimentation pond. Thus the pond had to handle both surface runoff and mine water. See the
appropriate regs.
Extra Item 2. The last paragraph on page 2.05-38, 03/07, needs to be revised to "with the
exception of the Hubbard Creek Shaft topsoil stockpile".
Extra Item 3. Remember to make a buffer zone exemption.
Extra Item 4. If the excavated materials are going to be placed in the waste pile, how is the shaft
to be reclaimed?
