MOUNTAIN COAL COMPANY RECLAMATION <br />PHOTOGRAPH PROJECT 2008 <br />Part B <br />Project Descrit~tion <br />During the 2000 and 2008 field seasons, photo-points were established and digital <br />photographs were taken ~~•here Mountain Coal Company has COI1dUCted Coal e\plorallon <br />and development activities between 1992 and 1997. Photo-points <br />ti•om 2(.)()0 ~~~ere taken again in 2008 and include 4 ~ sites. i~ield work was arcomplishe.d <br />on June 2, 3, 23. 25, 26, 27 and 28; ,lulu 1, ?~}; and August 7. 2008. <br />• Photographs were taken at each photo-point. Flagging, pin flags or native materials were <br />used to mark photo-points in areas where reclamation has occurred. No markers were <br />placed in areas which have not keen reclaimed. A clry ink board and marker were used to <br />show the photo location, azimuth the picture .vas taken toward. GPS coordinates and the <br />date. GPS coordinates ~~e:re recorded utilizing the: 1.lniversal Transverse Mercator (L!TM) <br />and NnD 27 daturll. !~ Gart11111 L11'l'X V15ta CiPS Uillt was Used. C oordlnaleS and Ot}leC <br />pertinent data were recorded in field notes. Photographs ~~tiere taken with Kodak and <br />Canon digital cameras. In some cases photo-point directions are shifted. between 2000 <br />and 2008 to better reflect current conditions on that individual site. E?ach photo-point in <br />t}le repotrt is labeled as ezemplitied below. In addition, general conditions such as <br />vegetative ground-cover, height of plants. encroachment by native shrubs and }~)rhs are <br />shown below the. lahel of each picture. <br />For example: the following site shows: Site name, , -, <br />-, general vegetative conditions at the site, and survey cap location information. <br />Site'I6-18-1 (Raven Mesa A) ,-. Ground- <br />cover 90-100'%, brass averages 1$" tall, moderate thistle infestation. V1'ell head <br />found and monumented. fiurvev cap set adjacent to drill casing. <br />Abbreviations for vegetation in photo captions are: O =Oak, CC' =Chokecherry.
