August 28, 2008 Recf-wo
Mr. James R. Stark 2008
Environmental Protection Specialist S?? a 2
Colorado Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety zctamation,
Department of Natural Resources ?ivW,n?n vn9 and Safety
1313 Sherman Street, Room 215 rA?
Denver, CO 80203
RE: Technical Revision No. 75, South Taylor Section 28 and 29 Collection Ditch Redesign and
Exhibit 7, Item 20, Part D Update, Colowyo Coal Mine, Permit No. C-81-019.
Dear Mr. Stark,
Enclosed please find two copies of materials provided for Technical Revision No. 75. This change updates
the permit to include the redesign of the Section 28 and 29 Collection Ditches of the South Taylor/Lower
Wilson expansion. The original ditches were found to be impractical due to topographical constraints and
consequently new ditch designs were required. These new designs change the horizontal and vertical
alignment of the collection ditches, which will allow the ditch to avoid natural landslide areas.
The update to Exhibit 7, Item 20, Part D: Temporary Channel Design, reflects the changes to the Section 28
Collection Ditch and revises the length of the Section 29 Collection Ditch, from 3100 feet to 2624 feet, to
correct an error in the permit.
Both of these ditches will meet with the existing collection ditch surrounding the active mine area.
In response to review comments we have run SEDCAD calculations for both of the ditches and have also
provided engineering designs.
Also included with the revision package are an application form, the public notice and an index sheet.
If you have any questions or require additional information, please feel free to contact me at (970) 824-1529.
Sincerely,
ifer Sekulski
Environmental Engineer
Encl. 2 copies
Cc: file CF 1.1.2.64
