That information included the Cedar Creek'Baseline
Wildlife Report dated March 2007, along with Sections 2.04.11(pp. '50-55) & 2.05.6 (pp..
91-96) of the Permit Application and a -letter from CDOW to ]: E. Stover I& Associates.'.':
dated 05-08-06. Other portions of the application were reviewed at your Grand
Junction Office.
As a Cooperating Agency with the Bureau ofLand Management (BLM) on the Redcliff
Mine Project, the CDOW has also reviewed information provided by CAM-Colorado LLC
and its consultant (URS) for the Environmental Impact Statement process. The CDOW
has submitted comments to the BLM on the Affected Environment (October 2, 2007),
and Preliminary Draft Environmental Impact Statement (March 21, 2008). The
comments-that follow are based on our review of all of the information we have
received to date on the Redcliff Mine Project.-
Development of the Redcliff Mine will result in an estimated surface disturbance of 452
acres, 237 of which will be in the mine facility site. Most of that disturbance will be
permanent or long term in nature, and will affect numerous species of wildlife. We
anticipate that negative wildlife impacts from the proposed action will include direct loss
of individual animals, direct loss of habitat, and reduction in usable habitat due to
increased disturbance.
In our review of the Baseline Wildlife'-Rertpo we-fou'nd:a. signifcant"errorxegarding? the
distribution of the Colorado State` Endangered-(SE) kit fox.
