Our files indicate that the anniversary date for this
permit is August 10. This pit HAS NOT been granted a Temporary
Cessation and it HAS operated more than 180 days this year. The
Financial Warranty for this operation is $800,000.00, the permit-
ted area is 1,239.40 ac. and the pit is divided into 9 Reclama-
tion Phases. A bond reevaluation was completed in April 2008.
Please refer to the annual report map attached for the
location of the areas discussed in this permit. We have chosen
to use an excerpt from the Mining Plan Map showing just the
disturbed area. We will deal specifically with each of the
Annual Report requirements outlined in Rule 1.15 of the Rules and
Regulations and the annual notice letter.
(1) Mining was temporarily suspended on the terrace deposit
covering 11.00 acres ± in the Highlands Lake area (dark
green). Mining continued on the 56.53 acres ± section of in
the reservoir area (brown). Of this area approximately 8.00
acres + would need reclamation because it is on the mine
perimeter. Most of this area has been excavated below the
water table so no reclamation is needed at this time. The
Plant Site and material storage area covers 25.00 acres ±
(orange). There are 2 areas stripped read for mining that
we used during construction of the slurry wall covering
42.54 acres (pink). We have approximately 85,000 yd3 of
topsoil stored on 14.64 acres around the mining area (tan).
The topsoil is being saved for when reclamation begins. The
fresh water pond covers approximately 10.10 ac ± (blue).
Slurry wall construction on the Sharkey's Lake area was
certified by the Office of the State Engineer in February
2008.
(2) Grading, shaping and resoiling is complete in the Highlands
Lake area... The slopes were seeded in the fall of 2006.
