Sherman
Executive Director
Ronald W. Cattany
Division Director
Natural Resource Trustee
The Division of Reclamation Mining and Safety has finished the review of the above referenced
mine permit application. As noted in the initial review the project is for the removal of
approximately 7500 tons of uranium ore stockpiled at a historic mine site. The total area of the
proposed disturbance is 0.46 acres which includes a truck turn around and load out area. No
other excavation is planned or will be approved under this permit. Nuvemco has accepted the
reclamation liability estimate of $13,220.00 which includes the tasks for moving topsoil materials
from lower John Brown to the site "if' necessary.
Staff is pleased to inform Nuvemco that it appears the application has met the minimum
requirements for a 110d application for the proposed activities. Therefore, the October Ore Pile
Reclamation Permit is approved. The permit will not become active until the Financial and
Performance Warranties are accepted by the DRMS Denver Office. Please submit the forms and
any inquiries about them to Elizabeth Taliaferro in the Denver Office. Elizabeth can be reached
at 303-866-4084. Also, please note that BLM must accept the bond estimate. If BLM has any
issues with the bond amount, adjustments may be necessary to address any of their issues.
Staff notes that additional review of this project has been or is being done by the BLM Grand
Junction field Office, Mesa County, and Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment.
Please remember that no disturbance can begin until all other federal, state and local permits
required are approved.
If you need additional information, please contact me at the Division of Reclamation, Mining and
Safety, Grand Junction Field Office, 101 S. 3rd St., Suite 301, Grand Junction, Colorado 81501,
telephone no. 970.241.1117.
Sincerely
G.
