(Page 2)
MINE ID # OR PROSPECTING ID #: M-1980-94.5
INSPECTION DATE: Julia 9nnA INSPECTOR=S INITIALS: nR9
OBSERVATIONS
This inspection was conducted by David Bird of DRMS as result of Succession of Operator notices filed for mines
owned by Robinson Brick Company for transfer of ownership to General Shale Brick, Inc. Present during the
inspection were Greg Knell and Jason McGraw of Robinson Brick. The site is located about 1 mile south of
South Platte Reservoir in Douglas County.
Material mined at this site consists of clay that is ultimately used to produce brick. The rock is generally poorly
consolidated but occasional blasting, if needed, is handled by an independent contractor.
The mine operates on the same schedule as Robinson's other properties. Rock is excavated during a
"campaign", a period of several weeks to months during which material is stripped from the pit and stockpiled
on site for later removal and transport to processing facilities for production of bricks. Removal of the product
occurs intermittently, over time frames up to several years, as dictated by market demands.
A couple of small relatively recent product stockpiles were present on site containing an estimated 5,000 yards
About 600 feet north of the northern permit boundary, the operator is treating a small perennial discharge,
estimated at 10-15 gpm, from old mine workings in the hogback. The treated discharge is land applied on
ground that is also north of and off the permit boundary.
The site is clean and maintained in good condition. Signs and markers are adequate, and no equipment,
structures, or refuse are present. Storm water controls appear to be functioning properly, the hydrologic
balance appears to be unimpacted, and no erosional issues or noxious weed problems are apparent.
The financial warranty of $236,538 currently on file is adequate.
I & E Contact Address
NAME: Marvin Myers, Jr.
OPERATOR: General Shale Brick.
