(Page 2)
MINE ID # OR PROSPECTING ID #: M-9nn81130
INSPECTION DATE: g/9i ign08 INSPECTOR=S INITIALS: FC'S
OBSERVATIONS
This was a pre-operational inspection conducted by Eric Scott, Tony Waldron and Michael Cunningham of
DRMS. DRMS representatives met with representatives of the Sessions family at the site at approximately 15:00.
The site entrance is located on the west side of County Road FF approximately 750' north of the intersection of
County Road FF and County Road 46.5 in Yuma County.
The permit area is 80 acres with the SE corner near the intersection of County Road FF and County Road 46.5
The southern boundary of the site is near, but not parallel to County Road 46.5 and the eastern boundary is
parallel to County Road FF on the west side of the road. Wire fences mark the east, west, and north side of the
site.
The southern area of the permit area was formerly a county pit in the early 1980's that appeared to have had
very little or no reclamation after mining. Pre-mining use of the site is currently listed as rangeland and no
livestock were observed on-site. Vegetation in the disturbed area of the site is returning, although it is still
sparse, and includes several types of grasses such as blue gramma, sideoats, switchgrass, little bluestem, and
sand dropseed. The undisturbed area of the site was vegetated in much the same manner, but slightly thicker.
Topsoil was very thin overlaying very sandy sub-soils. The remaining pit area from the former operations still had
steep slopes in several areas, and a portion of a pile of material was still on-site. The undisturbed area of the site
was relatively level with no surface drainages observed. The only permanent man-made structures observed
within 200' of the permit area were the site fences, county roads, and a utility line. DRMS advised the Sessions
that they would need to obtain signed agreements from the owners of the structures or commit to maintaining
a 200' buffer between the structures and mining activity.
DRMS discussed some additional permitting questions/adequacy issues with the Sessions after the site tour. This
concluded the inspection and DRMS left the site at approximately 1545.
I & E Contact Address
NAME: Doug & Patricia Sessions
OPERATOR: Same as above
STREET: 39416 Hwy 34 - PCB Box 385
CITY/STATE/ZIP: Wray CCU 80758
cc: IF CE
F BL
F FS
F HW
IF HMWMD (CH)
IF SE
F WQCD (CH)
F OTHER
