ATTACHMENT
ARK LAND COMPANY
X-2007-228-00
COAL EXPLORATION 180-DAY REPORT
1. Please see the attached map.
a) Holes completed in 2008 are shown on the attached map. Five holes were
drilled and are designated in sequence from BSW0801 thru BSW0805.
b) All 2008 holes were drilled in their proposed locations.
c) Significant road construction for 2008 included maintenance on the Garfield
County Road and the road to BSW0803.
d) All drill'rigs, test equipment, and road maintenance equipment has
demobilized from the exploration area.
2. 2008 reclamation activities included plug and abandonment of all five holes as per
43CFRII 3484.
BSW0801 and BSW0802
Helicopter access sites with minimal surface disturbance. Woody debris was moved
aside, the holes were drilled, plugged and abandoned. Hole sealing utilized cement from
0' to 10', bentonitic grout from 10' to a minimum of 50' above the coal zones, and
cement thru the coal zones to total depth. Mudpits were self contained and required no
surface disturbance. Trash and debris were removed from the site, the site was raked, and
woody debris redistributed.
BSW0803 thru BSW0805
The site and access roads were regarded to approximate original contour and salvaged
topsoil distributed. Native brush, boulders, and shrubs moved during construction were
brought back into the road alignment to aid in reclamation. The reclaimed road access
from existing BLM roadway was roughened with a pock and gouge method and blocked
with boulders to deter ATV access as requested by the BLM.
Hole sealing utilized cement from 0' to 10', bentonitic grout from 10' to a minimum of
50' above the coal zones, and cement thru the coal zones to total depths for each hole.
Non-artesian water inflow was encountered in BSW0805 at a rate of 3 to 5 gpm. The
inflow diminished with 3 days to less than 1 gpm.
