Stability for SerFer
Stability analysis was completed for the design of the SerFer pit. The following design parameters were
used:
• Pit depth of 12 feet
• Mining occurred at.5:1
• Minimum top width of reclaimed liner 12 feet
• Reclaimed reservoir slopes, minimum of 3:1
The analysis showed that assuming a minimum top width of 12 feet for the liner, the pit is stable under
both full conditions and in rapid drawdown conditions. The lowest factor of safety for failure under full
conditions is 2.8. The minimum acceptable factor of safety for full conditions is 1.5. The minimum
Factor of Safety for a rapid drawdown scenario of the SerFer Pit is 1.8. The accepted minimum factor of
safety for a rapid drawdown scenario is 1.2. The output files of both analyses are attached.
