• Mr, Mark Vanoni
Sr. Environmental Coordinator
Phase 4 Drainage Enhancements amec-v
Project 8420119300
August 11, 2008
As with any work on or near the VLF, extreme care must be taken to avoid damaging the
geomembrane liner and solution collection piping network. It is recommended that all machine
excavation work be limited to the upper 12 inches of the existing DCF surface. A spotter should
be used to observe and guide the operator of the excavation equipment. Hand methods should be
used to excavate below 12 inches.
In addition, equipment tracking the surface of the DCF should not be allowed to pivot on one
track (i.e., no abrupt or sharp turns). The recommended maximum ground pressure for track
equipment on the DCF surface is 8.7 psi (low ground pressure). Rubber tired equipment should not
be allowed to track on the DCF surface.
AMEC appreciates this opportunity to assist CC&V on this project. Please contact me if you
have any questions or comments at (303) 433 - 0262.
Sincerely,
AMEC Earth & Environmental, Inc.

John F.
