03/07/2008 08:05 801-284-4468 H.A.O.C.OF SALT LAKE PAGE 02

February 29, 2008
Division of Reclamation, Mining & Safety
Department of Natural Resources
1313 Sherman Street, Room 215
Denver, CO 80203
Attention: Deb E. Zack
RE: Siloam Stone Mine
This letter is to request an inspection due to our belief that Siloaxn Stone is out of
compliance on the 160 acre grandfathered mining lease in Pueblo County. As Property
owners of a portion of the 160 acres, we feel that Siloam Stone is mining more than the
20 acres at any one time than is allowed. We also feel that they are not reclaiming the
amount of acreage required in that 20 acre mine. Of the portion they state to have
reclaimed, we feel that they are not in compliance with what is required to be planted.
You may refer to the Pueblo County Planning Public Hearing dated February, 26, 2008
for SUP 2008001 at which Siloam Stone was denied their request. You can access the
information from their website at
w.co. ueblo.co.us/ Tannin cases/index. h 9,dir=SUP%202008-001/
b=: ?w w lannin
Or go to the Pueblo County website and go to Planning Cases. I was informed by the
County Planning office that the minutes may take a couple of weeks to be posted since
they were taken by hand and the hearing was four hours long.
On this website, you will find the submitted evidence presented to the Pueblo County
Planning Council Members. Not only the minutes for the meeting, which we believe you
will find some questionable items, but pictures, statements and signatures of other
property owners at Red Creek Ranch and along Siloam Road. Also included, was a
satellite photograph map of Section 36, the area of which Siloam Stone has a state
mineral lease. The aerial map shows just how much property is being mined. To our
untrained eye, it looks a lot larger. You will notice roads from the heavy equipment and
trucks into other areas as well as small stashes of stockpiled rock. Are these included in
the total acreage allowed?
