9
Exhibit E- Reclamation Plan
Post-mining reclamation plans include possibly developing
the property for a few cabin sites or as a recreational area.
However, until plans regarding this use are finalized, an
alternative plan for revegetation and return on the area to
rangeland is provided. The goal of reclamation will be to
stabilize the site and return the area to limited rangeland/
non-irrigated and irrigated pasture; portions of the property
will remain as limited wildlife habitat. The remainder of the
disturbed land ( except the access roads ) will be revegatated.
The Exhibit F map included herein portrays the anticipated final
topography of the site. A lake of ±10.04 may be created in
Phases 5, 6 and 7 in addition to the existing lake to the south.
Reclamation will be implemented in conjunction with mining
operations where possible. As described in Exhibit D, there
will be essentially three new phases to the operation. Final
slopes are developed during the course of mining. once the
operation moves out of Phase 5, reclamation may occur in that
area while operations continue in the Phase 6 area, etc. At
this time, the reclamation process has begun in the Phase 1
area with the current mining continuing in Phases 2 and 3.
All final slopes of the pond will be graded to no steeper
than 2:1, except from 5 feet above to 10 feet below the expected
water line where slopes shall not be steeper than 3:1. The
final surface configuration of the lands surrounding the pond,
except the shore, will be identical. to the existing surface
slopes of about one to three percent. Soil salvaged during
operations will be used for replacement on disturbed areas.
The soil will be spread to a depth of 4 - 6 inches on disturbed
areas.
Gosney and Sons Inc has entered into a wildlife mitigation
plan with the local Colorado Division of wildlife office. A
copy of this plan is attached. We hope to implement the portions
of this plan that address slopes more suitable for wildlife
habitat within the context of our obligations to the mining
rdca-amat- on pan . - - - - -
Prior to re-seeding any compacted areas will first be
scarified. The disturbed areas will then be seeded with the
mixture appearing below. The mixture includes species which
are adapted to both sandy and mixed soil textures. The proposed
mixture makes provisions for sod and bunch grasses as well as
emphasizes native species. The seeding rates are based on a
density of 40 pure live seeds ( PLS ) per square foot ( drilled
rate ). For the purposes of purchasing seed, a bulk rate is
also given with the appropriate pure live seed rate incorporated
into the calculations.
Hearing on Permit No. M-1987-038
?'
