(Page 2)
MINE ID # OR PROSPECTING ID #: M-1977-305
INSPECTION DATE: 8-5-08
INSPECTOR'S INITIALS GRM
OBSERVATIONS
This inspection was conducted as part of the normal monitoring program established by the Colorado Division of
Reclamation, Mining and Safety for permitted sites. The CLP-21 Mine is presently a fully reclaimed 112 permitted
site. Glen Williams, Mine Manager for Cotter Corporation accompanied the inspector on site.
No signs or markers are currently observed on site. Due to the fact that this is a fully reclaimed site the lack of sign
and markers is not considered a problem. As noted in the previous inspection, should Cotter reactive the site one of
the requirements will be re-establishment of boundary markers and signage.
The portal area shows no signs of settling or reopening. The entire area is well vegetated with four-winged saltbush,
snakeweed, some sage and several grass species. Pocking of the waste dumps has enhanced the revegetation along
the west and southern aspects. No noxious weeds were observed within the permit area but knapweed and Canadian
thistle were observed along the county road near the mine access. Cotter will need to monitor the site to ensure an
infestation does not occur on site.
Vegetation has made the site stable and no erosion or sedimentation is noted. An established drainage from the
northeast to the southwest appears to be handling precipitation events and directing stormwater away from the waste
piles. No off site damage or impacts were noted at this time.
The Division holds a cursory bond of $100.00 and DOE holds $5000.00 per Rule 4.2.1(8). The estimate was
updated in 2005 based on the reactivation of the mine. The reactivation did not occur therefore the bond is
considered adequate for current conditions.
No issues or problems are noted.
Responses to this inspection report should be directed to Russ Means at the Division of Reclamation, Mining and
Safety, Grand Junction Field Office, 101 South 3rd Street, Room 301, Grand Junction, Colorado 81501, phone no.
970-241-1117.
I & E Contact Address
NAME: Glen Williams
OPERATOR: Cotter Corporation
STREET: P.O.
