In addition, a diversion channel has been <br />placed adjacent to the Level 6 pad which isolates gulch flows from <br />the waste rock pile. Furthermore, the pile itself will be removed <br />from the Gulch native channel beginning in 2008. BMPs will be <br />placed to control any stormwater flows associated with this new <br />setting as needed to control construction activity releases and an <br />y <br />seasonal stormwater flows. <br />• Run-on Channels occur at the toe of the cut slope and route cut <br />slope stormwater sheet flows to the toe of waste rock limestone <br />rip-rap channel. <br />• Berms comprised of mounted waste rock, exist along the outer <br />perimeter of the Level 3 and 6 pads to retain any water on the pads <br />and route it back towards the natural hill slope. Ditehes at the tee <br />lined it mixed add dolomite limestone.-The ditches <br />associated with the Level 6 pad will be maintained until the pad is <br />removed (anticipated 2010). <br />Revegetation measures: Native soil was retained as part of the <br />mine plan of operations and used to cover portions of the pad <br />surfaces and waste rock areas (tat are not in use) to enhance <br />revegetation success. Currently, there are vegetated berms along <br />edges of Level 6 pad. <br />These berms will <br />be disturbed as part of the removal activities, however BMPs will <br />be placed to control any potential stormwater flows during the <br />construction efforts. <br />• Confinement of Deadman Gulch drainage with the use of berms <br />has kept Deadman gulch flows contained within the gulch itself, <br />and any Level 6 pad stormwater flows from reaching this tributary. <br />These berms will be maintained in order to keep the stormwater <br />pathway from the Level 6 pad severed from the tributary. These <br />berms will be kept in place (and are a part of the diversion channel <br />constructed design) until such time as the waste is removed from <br />the Deadman Gulch native flow pathway. <br />Page 14 of 37
