a. SWMP Administrator <br />Representatives of Gault Group Inc. have been designated by the mine <br />owner (LKA International Inc.) as being responsible for any and all <br />environmental issues related to the mine inclusive of stormwater and its <br />associated permitting. The point of contact for GGI in regards to mine site <br />SWMP is: Karmen King/GGI/Aquatic Toxicologist: phone: (970) 565- <br />1222. <br />b. Identification of Potential Pollutant Sources and Best Management <br />Practices <br />A discussion of the potential pollutants associated with mine are described <br />by Level as follows; <br />• Level 3 does not contain any residual mine activity materials with the <br />exception of historic ore carts, railing and metal debris. There are no <br />structures or storage facilities located on the Level 3 pad. <br />• Level 6 will be the active level of the mine. There are mine activity <br />related vehicles (1 loader, 1 haul truck), buildings (1 temporary <br />structure) and machinery (I air compressor) located outside on the <br />Level 6 pad. The materials underground are contained and do not <br />create a pollutant issue for the outside setting. The waste rock can also <br />be viewed as a potential source of pollutants if water comes into <br />contact with it and creates flows containing ARD character. As far as <br />any historic petroleum constituents and solvents, there have been no <br />significant spills or signs of release. There are no fuel tanks on the <br />Level 6 pad. The entire pad footprint is encompassed by a perimeter <br />berm and contoured to slope towards to the toe of the excavated slope. <br />Any spilled materials would be contained within the pad setting and <br />not reach any off-area setting. In addition, the majority of fluids are <br />kept within the on-site temporary structures which provide an added <br />layer of spill prevention. There is no sign of stormwater erosion or <br />release from the pad. Current management practices have been <br />implemented to contain and/or manage any stormwater that might <br />occur. As previously stated, as a conservative measure, additional <br />management practices are proposed for the toe of the waste rock in <br />order to control any potential ARD issues. Since the time of this <br />SWMP, a diversion channel has been put in place to capture Deadman <br />Gulch flows. Further activities will include the removal of the waste <br />rock pile from the Deadman Gulch native channel path beginning in <br />2008. Additional bmps may be put in place to control any access road <br />flows that reach the level 6 pad. <br />Sediment created from stormwater flows is the most likely pollutant <br />associated with the mine. Sediment can be produced from uncontrolled <br />Page 8 of 16
