STATE OF COLORADO
DIVISION OF RECLAMATION, MINING AND SAFETY
Department of Natural Resources
1313 Sherman St., Room 215
Denver, Colorado 80203
Phone: (303) 866-3567
FAX: (303) 832-8106
DATE: January 28, 2007
TO: Jim Stark
COLORADO
D I V I S I O N O F
RECLAMATION
MINING
SAFETY
Bill Ritter, Jr.
Governor
Harris D. Sherman
Executive Director
FROM: Joe Dudash Ronald W. Cattany
Division Director
Natural Resource Trustee
RE: Bowie No. 2 Mi e, Permit No. C-1996-083, Bowie Resources LLC
Technical Revision No. 52, Thirteen Gob Vent Bore Holes, Updated
Request for Assistance
In a memo to you dated December 28, 2007, I requested assistance concerning the
reclamation cost estimate for TR-52. BRL was requesting incremental bonding for the
thirteen gob vent bore holes and a bond credit for GVB-617, approved in MR-78. I just
sent the Division's adequacy review letter for TR-52, in which I detailed the procedure
for incremental bonding. TR-52 would approve approximate locations for the drill holes,
pads and roads that would be constructed in the next three years. However, no bond
would be associated with TR-52. Each year, BRL would submit a minor revision for the
construction proposed for that year. At that time, a reclamation bond would be calculated
for that minor revision. An annual update report would also be needed.
Therefore, please hold off on calculating the reclamation cost estimate for the thirteen
gob vent bore holes. If BRL decides to do incremental bonding, the bond calculation for
TR-52 won't be needed. Please do the reclamation cost estimate credit for GVB-6, as had
been requested by BRL in TR-52. I will let you know of the final outcome of the
incremental bond issue.
If you need any additional information, please let me know. Thanks for your assistance.
Attachments
cc: Sandy Brown (without attachments)
c:/word/bowie2/tr52bondmemo2
Office of Office of
Mined Land Reclamation Denver • Grand )unction • Durango Active and Inactive Mines
