Ill. COMMENTS -COMPLIANCE
Below are comments on the inspection. The comments include discussion of observations made
during the inspection. Comments also describe any enforcement actions taken during the inspection
and the facts or evidence supporting the enforcement action.
This was a partial inspection conducted by Kent Gorham of the Colorado Division of
Reclamation, Mining, and Safety (Division). A final Phase III bond release application (SL-
06) is pending for the majority of the reclaimed area at this site. Ground conditions were dry
and the weather was hot.
Signs and Markers
Extra boundary markers and t-posts were noted in a small pile at the river ponds and should
be removed as soon as possible. The operator will be posting a new mine identification sign
at the NW-1 ventilation shaft which will be the only remaining area under liability for the
Golden Eagle mine should the pending bond release (SL-06) be approved.
Soil Methane Area
The operator has removed the soil methane monitors on areas to the east of the permit
boundary on private lands as shown in the photos below.
Overall, this reclaimed site appeared in average condition for the summer season.
3
