Historically, surface casing holes have been 40 to 60 feet
deep. (Air or Air/Foam)
• Run 7 5/8" Surface Casing.
• Cement with"Neat Cement"to surface.
• Rig.up diverter and wait on cement a minimum of 4 hours.
• Drill out thru the surface casing with 6 1/4"diameter PDC bit using air foam.
Advance the drill hole to±600 feet.
• Run 4 1/2",J 55 casing to bottom of the hole. This will be temporary casing and
will be recovered after coring.
• • Set up core drill
• Core with an HQ3 core set up from—600 feet to—2500 feet. Use a 10 ft. core
barrel and mud circulation.
• At Total Depth(-2500),circulate the hole clean and trip out of the hone.
• Demob the core rig and rig up rotary drill.
• Recover 4 '/2"easing,
• Trip in the hole with a 6 '/4"PDC bit and open the hole to 2500'
• Circulate the hole clean and trip out of the hole
• Run geophysical logs from TD to the bottom of the 7 5/8"casing.
• Set any required instrumentation and temporary packers.
• Rig down and de-mob
12
