The first pad,the
Test Pad(TP),will require drilling one corehole(CH-1), four tomography holes(TM-I
thin TM-4)and one large diameter test hole(T-1). The corehole will be constructed to
(1)assess geologic conditions above, within, and below the test interval,(2)facilitate
downhole logging,(3)provide samples for laboratory testing,and(4)support hydrologic
testing. The corehole will extend approximately 100 feet into the top of the Wasatch
Formation. If the hole is to remain open for more than 30 days after completion of
drilling,a packer seal will be placed within the seal between the upper and lower aquifers
(most likely the R5 zone, depending on site hydrologic conditions). Pressure transducers
connected to a continuous data logger will be placed above and below the packer seal to
demonstrate an effective seal between the two aquifer systems. When the hole is no
longer needed for testing operations, the hole will be abandoned as described below in
8
