6
3. Describe the estimated topsoil depth and how topsoil will be salvaged, stockpiled and redistributed for the re-establishment of
vegetation. Specify approximate topsoil redistribution depth:
6" of topsoil exist. If topsoil is striped it will be stockpiled in windrows on the
uphill side of the disturbed area. Blading or grading is not proposed at the drill
sites unless the drill site is not level enough to accommodate the drilling rig. If
leveling is required the drill site would be 20 -feet in width and 40-feet in length
and accommodate the rig, water storage, drilling equipment, drilling supplies and
multiple crew vehicles. The rig would be oriented to minimize surface disturbance and
insure the most level area possible. Minor cuts and fills may be generated and have been
included in the disturbance estimate within the 20' by 40' area.
4. Describe how drill holes will be plugged (refer to Rule 5.4 of the Rules for required abandonment procedures):
Providing that no water is encountered while drilling, the hole would be back-filled
and a cement surface plug would be installed in the hole. In the event that water
is encountered during drilling, bentonite chips would fill the abandon hole and a 20'
cement cap placed over the bentonite chips to surface. Should an alternate plugging
method be requested by the BLM that procedure would be followed. Drill cuttings would
be spread over the surrounding area.
5. Describe how portals, adits, shafts, ponds, excavations, or other disturbances will be reclaimed (refer to Rule 3 and Rule 5 for
specific reclamation performance standards). You may wish to contact the Division for closure specifications.
No other disturbances are proposed except for drill holes and access roads.
ti. Describe how roads will be reclaimed or returned to their pre-prospecting (,or better) condition:
New roads will be reshaped to original contour and roughened with a-backhoe then v µµM µ
reseeded and covered by hand raking or four-wheeler and harrow leaving a roughened surface.
Obstacles would be place to preclude travel along the reclaimed route. Existing roads
would be reclaimed utilizing the same procedure unless directed to leave the existing
roads open by the BLM.
- -- ----------------
