URAVAN-BECK PROJECT DRILL SITE P-9 Page 1 of 7
NOTICE OF INTENT TO COMMENCE PROSPECTING
APPENDICES To NOI APPLICATION
APPENDIX A
Section 1.7. D.
The center of the 4.5 ac. drill site was GPS'd by a surveyor. The drill site includes all
land within a 250 ft. radius of the center point. All final drill hole locations will be located
and recorded using a GPS with sub-meter accuracy prior to drilling to insure they are
within the 4.5 ac. area. This area has been cleared for Threatened, Endangered, and
Sensitive (TES) species, and archaeological resources.
Section 111.5.
Yellowcake will access the 500-foot diameter, 4.5 acre drill site located on Figure 1 via
the Q-12 Road, which passes through the center of the drill site. If any road work is
necessary on the county road to allow the drill rig to safely travel to the drill site, a
backhoe will be used to repair only the damaged area. No wholesale road grading will
be done, and any spot-grading will be done within the existing county road ROW.
Once within the 4.5 acre drill site, existing exploration tracks will be used to minimize
disturbance wherever possible. Drill holes will be grouped in 3- to 7-hole fences. The
truck-mounted, self-contained, small-footprint, air-rotary/hammer drill rig will travel on a
designated overland route to each drill fence.
The drill site is flat and contains several old exploration roads, and a large portion of the
area is an open field with resilient, non-brittle, sod-forming Galleta. If any grading is
required to access the drill fences, excavated material will be stockpiled on site using a
backhoe and saved for use in reclamation. Because the Galleta area is resilient to
disturbance but slow to establish, if drilling is completed on the grassy area, no topsoil
will be stripped and cuttings will be placed directly on the surface. Care will be taken on
backfilling not to disturb the sod.
At each drill hole location, approximately 6 inches of soil will be salvaged from a 20 ft.
diameter area. Total volume of topsoil salvaged from each hole will be approximately
7.4 cubic yards (CY). Soil will be stockpiled on native land to the side of each drill fence
in marked stockpiles up to 44-52 CY in volume (sized up to roughly 26' long x 18' wide x
6' high).
The rotary/hammer drill rig will be used to drill 20 exploratory holes - one hole per drill
location. No mud pits or water trucks will be needed for drilling. Cuttings will be collected
on the stripped area next to the drill rig.
When drilling is complete, cuttings will be replaced down-hole, with excess cuttings
(estimated at 10% of total cuttings volume) spread thinly across the immediate surface
area. Soil will be re-spread to reclaim the drill site as explained in Section IV below.
No trees or shrubs will need to be cut. No underground workings will be disturbed.
