URAVAN-BECK PROJECT DRILL SITE P-5 Page 3 of 7
NOTICE OF INTENT TO COMMENCE PROSPECTING
APPENDICES To NOI APPLICATION
completed, when it will be hauled to the Montrose County West End Landfill located two
miles west and one mile north of Nucla. See also 111.5.
Section 111.7. J.
The drill site will be located on eastward-sloping topography of 5-10% grade on the
shoulder of a broad, gently sloping ridge that is approximately 3/4 mile WSW of the closest
marked, intermittent drainage. Red Canyon, also marked as intermittent, but with a larger
watershed, is approximately 1 mi. SSW and 800 vertical ft. below the drill site. No
groundwater was encountered during previous Uranium drilling in the Carpenter Flats area
(as verbally reported to the Company by a previous operator). It is anticipated that no water
will be encountered during this drilling operation.
APPENDIX B
Section IV.2.
Vegetation at the Drill Site is dominated by sparse Pinyon-Juniper woodlands and open
grasslands that burned within the last 20 years, based on a site visit and interpretation of
recent aerial photos from the National Agricultural Imagery Program (NAIP) (2006). No
photo was taken of the site, but it looks similar to the land in the photo at the right, which is
located approximately 2.5 miles to
the east.
Because of the fire, the open areas
have a higher forage production
than nearby, unburned areas.
About half of the site is in the
grass-dominated fire break and half
is within Pinyon Juniper forest.
Vegetative cover, excluding trees.
is approximately 35% overall.
Species noted included Western
wheatgrass (Pseudoroegneria
spicata), Muttongrass (Festuca
ovina), Rubber rabbitbrush
(Chrysothamnus nauseosus).
_Alt
Milkvetch (Astragalus sp.), Hoary
ground daisy (Townsendia incana).
Serviceberry (Amalanchier alnifolia), Birch-leaf mountain mahogany (Cercocarpus
montanus), Claret cup cactus (Echinocereus triglochidiatus), Popcorn flower (Cryptantha
sp.), Twinflower (Physaria acutifolia), and Wallflower (Eiysimum capitatum).
NRCS data from Soil Survey C0675 - Parts of Montrose, Dolores, and San Miguel
Counties, 2008 lists the drill site as being in the GIadel-Bond-Rock outcrop complex (Map
Unit 45), 1 to 50 percent slopes. Rangeland Productivity and Plant Production data does not
list any plant species for this map unit, although vegetative production (dry weight) is
