URAVAN-BECK PROJECT DRILL SITE P-5 Page 1 of 7
NOTICE OF INTENT TO COMMENCE PROSPECTING
APPENDICES To NOI APPLICATION
APPENDIX A
Section 1.7. D.
The center of the 4.5 ac. drill site was GPS'd by a surveyor. The drill site includes all land
within a 250 ft. radius of the center point. All final drill hole locations will be located and
recorded using a GPS with sub-meter accuracy prior to drilling to insure they are within the
4.5 ac. area. This area has been cleared for Threatened, Endangered, and Sensitive (TES)
species, and archaeological resources.
Section 111.5.
Yellowcake will access the 500-ft. diameter, 4.5 acre drill site located on Figure 1, Site P-5
via the Geyser Pass Road. If any road work is necessary, a backhoe will be used to repair
only the damaged area. No wholesale road grading will be done, and any spot-grading will
be done within the existing county road ROW.
Approximately 850 ft. of 15-ft. wide access trail will be cut along an old fire break to the drill
site. While most of the route will not require any grading at all, the bond includes regrading
of an average of six inches of soil along the entire route. Topsoil will be pushed into a
windrow to one side of any bladed area.
Once within the 4.5 acre drill site, existing exploration tracks will be used to minimize
disturbance wherever possible. The truck-mounted, self-contained, small-footprint, air-
rotary/hammer drill rig will travel on a designated overland route to the drill hole locations.
Once again, if any grading is required to access the drill holes, excavated material will be
stockpiled on site using a backhoe and saved for use in reclamation.
Drill holes will be grouped in 3- to 7-hole fences. At each drill hole location, approximately 6
inches of soil will be salvaged from a 20 ft. diameter area, Total volume of topsoil salvaged
from each hole will be approximately 7.4 cubic yards (CY). Soil will be stockpiled on native
land to the side of each drill fence in marked stockpiles up to 44-52 CY in volume (or up to
26' long x 18' wide x 6' high).
The rotary/hammer drill rig will be used to drill 20 exploratory holes - one hole per drill
location. No mud pits or water trucks will be needed for drilling. Cuttings will be collected on
the stripped area next to the drill rig.
When drilling is complete, cuttings will be replaced down-hole, with excess cuttings
(estimated at 10% of total cuttings volume) spread thinly across the immediate surface
area. This soil will be re-spread to reclaim the drill site as explained in Section IV below.
Efforts will be made to avoid locating drill fences where shrubs or trees need to be cut
down. However, vegetation that cannot be avoided on the access route or within the 4.5-
acre drill site that is over three ft. high will be cut down and stored in one centrally located
stockpile within the drill site. Once drill work is complete, the woody material will be hauled
to the Montrose County West End Landfill, located two miles west and one mile north of
Nucla.
No underground workings will be created or disturbed.
