URAVAN-BECK PROJECT DRILL SITE P-3 Page 3 of 7
NOTICE OF INTENT TO COMMENCE PROSPECTING
APPENDICES To NOI APPLICATION
Although it is likely that all large vegetation, such as trees and shrubs over 3 ft. high, can be
avoided, any that must be cut down to allow access for topsoil stripping and drilling activities
will be stored near the center of the drill area until drilling is completed, when the debris will
be hauled to the Montrose County West End Landfill located two miles west and one mile
north of Nucla. See also 111.5.
Section lll. 7. J.
The drill site is located near the edge of a shelf that is approximately 200 ft. N. of the rim of
a side canyon to Red Canyon, an intermittent wash. Strata dips to the W. The nearest live
water is a spring located 500 vertical ft. below the drill surface or 300 vertical ft. below total
depth of holes. This spring is about 1.3 mi. to the NE of drill area. The Dolores River is
1,200 vertical ft. below the drill surface and 2.0 mi. to the E. No groundwater was
encountered during previous Uranium drilling in the project area (as verbally reported to the
Company by a previous operator).
Section I V. 2.
Appendix 8
Vegetation at the Drill Site is dominated by Pinyon-Juniper woodlands, based on a site visit
and interpretation of recent aerial photos from the National Agricultural Imagery Program
(NAIP) (2006). The photo below shows typical vegetation density at the site in an area with
a steeper than average slope.
NRCS data from Soil Survey
C0675 - Parts of Montrose,
Dolores, and San Miguel
Counties, 2008 lists the drill site
as being in the Gladel-Bond-Rock
outcrop complex (Map Unit 45), 1
to 50 percent slopes. No plant
species are listed for this map
unit, although vegetative
,_ 21'
production (dry weight) is
estimated to be 50-300 pounds
per acre for Gladel soils and 200-
600 pounds per acre for Bond
soils. Understory species W1.1 4
recorded included Milkvetch
(Astragalus sp.), Hoary ground
daisy (Townsendia incana).
Serviceberry (Amalanchier alnifolia), Mormon tea (Ephedra trifurca), Birch-leaf mountain
mahogany (Cercocarpus montanus), Claret cup cactus (Echinocereus triglochidiatus),
Popcorn flower (Cryptantha sp.), Twinflower (Physaria acutifolia), and Wallflower (Erysimum
