URAVAN-BECK PROJECT DRILL SITE P-4 Page 3 of 7
NOTICE OF INTENT TO COMMENCE PROSPECTING
APPENDICES To NOI APPLICATION
Section 111.7. J.
The drill pad area is located on flat-lying terrain that contains a somewhat incised,
ephemeral drainage that runs northeastward parallel to the mesa, then turns to the south as
it drops into Red Canyon. Red Canyon is approximately 3,500 ft. to the south of, and 800
vertical ft. below, the drill site. The Dolores River is another 2.0 mi. and 600 vertical ft.
lower to the E.
No drilling will be conducted in the drainage that runs through the drill site. The steep bluff
on the north and the steep slopes associated with the drainage on the southeast edge of
the drill site will be avoided.
No groundwater was encountered during previous Uranium drilling in the Carpenter Flats
area (as verbally reported to the Company by a previous operator). It is anticipated that no
water will be encountered while drilling the planned 200-ft. deep holes.
APPENDIX B
Section 1 V. 2.
Vegetation at the Drill Site is dominated by Pinyon-Juniper woodlands, based on a site visit
and interpretation of recent aerial photos from the National Agricultural Imagery Program
(NAIP) (2006). A photo showing an area just north of the county road near the center of drill
site 4 is shown below.
NRCS data from Soil Survey C0675 - Parts of Montrose, Dolores, and San Miguel
Counties, 2008 lists the drill site as being in the Gladel-Bond-Rock outcrop complex (Map
Unit 45), 1 to 50 percent slopes.
Rangeland Productivity and
Plant Production data does not
list any plant species for this
map unit, although vegetative
production (dry weight) is
estimated to be 50-300 pounds
per acre for Gladel soils and
200-600 pounds per acre for
Bond soils. Pinyon and Juniper
trees are dominant, with
Mormon tea (Ephedra trifurca)
and Serviceberry (Amalanchier
alnifolia) common shrubs. Forbs
included Milkvetch (Astragalus
sp.), Birch-leaf mountain
mahogany (Cercocarpus 441
montanus), (Physaria acutifolia), and Wallflower (Erysimum capitatum)
most common grass was Indian ricegrass (Achnatherum hymenoides).
also noted.
