URAVAN-BECK PROJECT DRILL SITE P-4 Page 1 of 7
NOTICE OF INTENT TO COMMENCE PROSPECTING
APPENDICES To NOI APPLICATION
APPENDIX A
Section 1.7. D.
The center of the 4.5 ac. drill site was GPS'd by a surveyor. The drill site includes all land
within a 250 ft. radius of the center point. All final drill hole locations will be located and
recorded using a GPS with sub-meter accuracy prior to drilling to insure they are within the
4.5 ac. area. This area has been cleared for Threatened, Endangered, and Sensitive (TES)
species, and archaeological resources.
Section 111.5.
Yellowcake will access the 500-foot diameter, 4.5 acre drill site located on Figure 1 via the
S-12 Road, which passes through the center of the drill site. If any road work is necessary
on the county road to allow the drill rig to safely travel to the drill site, backhoe will be used
to repair only the damaged area. No wholesale road grading will be done, and any spot-
grading will be done within the existing county road ROW. No new roads will be required as
the drill site is bisected by the SR-12 road.
A small-footprint, self-contained, air-rotary/hammer drill rig with a maximum 1,500-foot
depth capability will be used to drill 20 exploratory holes. Holes will not be drilled on the S-
12 county road, and equipment will be stored to allow traffic to pass safety through the work
area. Drill holes will be grouped in 3- to 7-hole fences. The drill rig will travel on a
designated overland route to drill fences. If any grading is required to access the drill
fences, excavated material will be stockpiled on site using a backhoe and saved for use in
reclamation.
At each drill hole, approximately 6 in. of soil will be salvaged from a 20-ft. diameter area.
Total volume of topsoil salvaged from each hole will be approximately 7.4 cubic yards (CY).
Soil will be stockpiled to the side of each drill fence in marked stockpiles up to 44-52 CY in
volume (or up to 26' long x 18' wide x 6' high).
The rotary/hammer drill rig will be used to drill 20 exploratory holes - one hole per drill
location. No mud pits or trucks will be needed for drilling. Cuttings will be collected on the
stripped area next to the drill rig.
When drilling is complete, cuttings will be replaced down-hole, with excess cuttings
(estimated at 10% of total cuttings volume) spread thinly across the immediate surface rea.
This soil will be re-spread to reclaim the drill site as explained in Section IV below.
The drill site is thickly vegetated. Trees and shrubs over 3 ft. high that cannot be avoided
either to access drill hole locations or when to set up the drill rig will be cut down. The
woody material will be stored on site until drill work is finished, and then hauled to the
Montrose County West End Landfill, located two miles west and one mile north of Nucla.
No underground workings will be created or disturbed.
