34%. The LS factor for the original slope is based on the original contours shown on
Exhibit T. The original ground slope has an equal length of 255-feet with a slope of
46%.
C (cropping - management) factors are the ratios of soil losses from lands cropped
under specified conditions to the corresponding losses from tilled, continuous fallow. C
factors for land uses other than cropland are included on Figures 7, 8, and 9. The
percent ground cover is the primary item to consider because a slight change in the
percent ground cover will result in a significant change in the erosion prediction.
Figure 7 - "C" Factors for Permanent Pasture and Rangeland
ORIGINAL SLOPE - "C" FACTOR
Appreciable canopy. Canopy is assumed to be the combined cover contributed by trees
and shrubs. Based on the permit vegetation study the combined tree and shrub cover
totals 75%. The percent ground cover for the reclaimed area shown above is 55%. Use
Figure 7 identified above and interpolate to determine the C factor for 55% cover and
75% canopy.
CANOPY APPRECIABLE BRUSH
PERCENT GROUND COVER
40.0 55.0 60.0
75% W 0.130 0.095 0.083
RECLAIMED SLOPE - "C" FACTOR
No appreciable canopy. Canopy is assumed to be the cover contributed by trees and
shrubs. Based on the 2007 vegetation study the tree and shrub cover totals 0.8%. The
percent ground cover for the reclaimed area shown above is 74.5%.
