number and location of well pads and the location and length of associated temporary
access roads are known. The access roads have not been laid out for the remaining
five mining panels.
The following cut volumes were determined by Agapito for the 0-5 year mining panel.
Fill volumes would approximate cut volumes and would represent the volumes that
would need to be moved to re-create original contours in reclamation of the panels.
Drill Pads in 0-5 year mine panel
Cut = 115,089 cubic yards
• Temporary Roads in 0-5 year mine panel
Cut = 112,440 cubic yards
The spacing of solution mining wells in the remaining mining panels could change in the
future but is assumed to be the same as the spacing of solution mining wells in the 0-5
year mining panel. Therefore, the number of solution mining wells is proportional to the
size of the mining panel, and the length of the temporary access roads connecting the
solution mining wells is also proportional to the size of the mining panel. Furthermore,
the topography of the remaining mining panels will be similar to the topography of the 0-
5 year mining panel, i.e., they will occur primarily on ridge tops, and cut and fill volumes
will be based on similar slopes. Therefore, cut and fill volumes for the remaining mining
panels can be projected based on their size relative to the size of the 0-5 year mining
panel. The calculated cut volumes for drill pads and associated temporary access
roads for the respective mining panels are given in Table L-1.
Table L-1 Estimated Cut Volumes and Total Disturbance Area for Drill Pads and
Associated Temporary Access Roads
Mining
Panel
Designation Total
Area of
Panel
acres Estimated Cut for
Drill Pads
(cubic yards) Estimated Cut for
Associated Temporary
Access Roads
cubic yards) Estimated
Total
Disturbance
Area acres
0-5 160 115,000 112,000 75
5-10 209 150,000 147,000 98
10-15 172 124,000 121,000 81
15-20 167 120,000 117,000 78
20-25 125 90,000 88,000 59
25-30 197 142,000 138,000 92
As indicated in Table L-1, the 5-10 year mining panel is the largest of the six panels.
Therefore, the greatest amount of reclamation required for the drill pads and associated
temporary access roads would occur at the end of mining in the 5-10 year mining panel
and would total approximately 300,000 cubic yards of earth to be moved.
L-2
