Cattany
Division Director
Natural Resource Trustee
On June 30, 2008, the Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety received an application for
Technical Revision TR-64 to the Foidel Creek Mine permit. This permit (C-1982-056) is held by
Twentymile Coal Company. Technical Revision TR-64 is proposing to revise the underground mine
plan in two mining districts at the mine.
In the mine's Northern Mining District, the permittee is proposing to extend development and
longwall mining in Panel 24 Right,' located in Sections 4, 5, 6, 7, and 8, T5N, R86W, 6th PM, Routt
County, CO. New development mining would be in Panel 24 Right's northern gate road. New
longwall mining would be from the center of Panel 24 Right to its eastern limit. In the Northern
Mining District, the permittee is also proposing to delete from its previously-approved mine plan
Panel 25 Right and its northern gate road, located in Sections 5 and 6, T5N, R86W. The federal lease
associated with Panels 24 Right and 25 Right is COC-67514. Technical Revision TR-64 proposes
extracting coal from lease COC-67514 for the first time.
In the mine's relatively new Western Mining District, the permittee is currently approved to conduct
development mining in Sections 17 and 18 of T5N, R86W and Section 13 of T5N, R87W. The
permittee is proposing to extend development mining in Sections 17, 18, 19, and 20 of T5N, R86W,
and in Sections 13, 23, 24, and 26 of T5N, R87W. The federal leases associated with this new
proposed development mining are C-20900 and C-081330. Mining has occurred from both of these
leases in the past. Technical Revision TR-64 itself proposes no longwall mining in the Western
Mining District. There are also no surface disturbances proposed under Technical Revision TR-64.
Accompanying this letter are copies of the new proposed mine plan map submitted with TR-64, and
the existing coal ownership map and existing mine plan map.
