CCV Mine Permit Comments
City of Cripple Creek
June 11, 2008
Page 5
and what mitigation to noise or damage, including financial guarantees is
proposed for the City to review and approve.
POINT EIGHT - WATER QUALITY AND SUPPLY
CCV Shall provide a water consumption plan and source and use analysis,
currently the City of Victor leases water from Cripple Creek for use in their
domestic water system, which then leases water to CCV from their
entitberrient This regimen needs to be fully addressed for the mine
extension permit
Flood Control, the current proposal if it works would be satisfactory,
however if the retention basins fail there could be flooding in Poverty
Gulch, this "Drainage Plan" will require financial guarantee's to be posted.
POINT NINE - RE-DIRECTION OF HEAVY TRUCK TRAFFIC
Since the opening of mining operations - a great deal of truck traffic is
imposed on the City of Cripple Creek, this creates the potential for an
accident with the heavy trucks and especially the chemical trucks. 1lVith
the approval of the extension, ALL truck traffic shall be redirected on the
new road being built by CCV.
PLATFORM
Concern by many citizens has been raised as to the continued access to
the American Eagle mine. A condition on the extension must be made to
require that this historic mine site be maintained open to the Public, this is
a promise that was made, but never formalized in writing.
A great has been said about the economic benefits of the continued mining
operations, however the mine will close, as we can clearly see from
downturns in the housing market, when this happens and happen it will, we
need to be assure! that the transition allows this historic city to benefit
from the mining operation and not be economically devastated by it
