NOTICE OF PROPOSED DECISION
The Colorado Division of Reclamation,
Mining and Safety proposes to Ap-
prove Technical Revision, Application
No. 69 (TR-69) for the Colowyo Coal
Mine (Permit No C-1981-019), submit-
ted by Colowyo Coal Company L;P.
The Colowyo Coal Company has sub-
mitted a Technical Revision for the
Colowyo Mine to change the mine plan
and topsoil stripping plan for the South
Taylor Pk. The changes are to the top
soil stripping sequence, mining se-
quence and yearly mining blocks only.
The disturbed and affected areas of the
South Taylor Pit will remain the same.
Based on this revision, no new lands .
will be disturbed or affected. Since all
disturbance boundaries and pit depths
will remain the same, it is not antici-
pated that this revision will.change the
reclamation cost estimate and bond: I
The South Taylor Pit was approved for
mining through Permit Revision 02. All
of the areas have been surveyed for
cultural resources and threatened and
endangered species.
The Colowyo Coal` Mine is a surface
coal mine located in Moffat County,
approximately 28 miles south of Craig, ;
Colorado. Coal interest is Federal, and
the surface affected is Federal, state
and private.land. The permit area en-
compasses approximately. 12,250.95
acres..
This proposed decision is based on a
finding that.the proposed operation will
comply with all requirements of the
Colorado Surface. Coal Mining Recla-
mation Act; Section 31 -33-101, at seq., .
C.R.S_, and the regulations promuk..
gated thereunder.
Copies of the proposed decision, in-
cluding stipulations, are on file for pub-
lic inspection at the Colorado Division
of 'Reclamation, Mining and Safety,
Room 215, Centennial Building, 1313
Sherman Street, Denver, Colorado
80203. Persons with an interest that
may be. adversely affected by the pro-
posed decision may request a formal.
hearing before the Mined Land Recla-
mation Board on the proposed, deci-
sion. Such request, must be made.
within ten (10) days of the initial-
publication of this notice, must be in
writing,and must state with reasonable
specificity the reasons for the request
and the objections to the proposed
decision.
