Your letter references to three listed National Register Historic Districts in the
general vicinity of CC&V's permit area: Cripple Creek Historic District [STL.2],
Stratton's Independence Mine and Mill [5TL.340], and Victor Downtown Historic
District [5TL.134]. Please note that CC&V voluntarily placed its Stratton
Independence Mine and Mill on the National Register of Historic Places; the
MLE permit application does not include any impacting or mining of this feature.
The MLE permit application does not include any impacting or mining near or of
the Victor Downtown Historic District. CC&V is not completely aware of what
exactly is included in the Cripple Creek Historic District; however, the proposed
MLE project does not change the permit boundaries that have existed since
approximately 1998 or the mining activities that have occurred in the area since
the early 1970's.
Finally, your letter inquired if there are any federal agency involvement in this
project. Please be advised that there are no federal agencies involved in the
MLE project as it occurs entirely on private lands owned or controlled by CC&V.
Sine ly,
ary oo
an ger,
rich
Environmental Resources
cc: Mr. Berhan Keffelew, Division of Reclamation, Mining, and Safety
Ms. Jane Mannon
