uniform throughout the layer. <br />Density control of compacted earthfill shall be such that the dry density of the compacted material <br />shall conform to not less than 95% in areas to remain as permanent reservoir side slopes or fill <br />areas which function as a structural part of the finished project. Material which does not meet <br />these requirements will be rejected and shall be reworked until a dry density equal to or greater <br />than these requirements is reached. <br />3.05 PLACING AND COMPACTING <br />A. Compacted Fill <br />The material shall be placed in areas shown on the plans in continuous and approximately <br />horizontal layers, not more than 12" loose lifts. The combined excavation and placing operations <br />shall be such that the materials will be sufficiently blended to secure the best practicable degree of <br />compaction and stability. <br />The material shall be compacted to the density required as determined by Standard Proctor testing <br />as described in ASTM D-698. <br />END OF SECTION <br />Section 02290 - Page 4 of 4 02/08
