Naar is used in hot tubs, NaCI is
common table salt, Potassium mono 8 persutfate are used to catalyze
resins used in arts & craft projects, NaOH, is household lye and is used in
oven cleaners, hobby soap making, etc., HCI is used in a variety of toilet
bowl cleaners sidewalk cleaners, etc.
Again as to perspective all but one of these chemicals are no more
dangerous than the average dearer section of a focal supermarket. None
are "flammable° as such, alt including table salt are either "toxic°,
°corrosive", °reactive° or have "pH extremes" as do hundreds of household
chemical products. As a group the proposed d~emicaks are much less
toxic/dangerous than many other groups of currently used mineral
extraction chemical mixes.
It is a given that the proposed chemicals, as well as all dtemieals
should be treated with a degree of safety and caution_ CDS would propose
the following as prudent measures for chemical safety:
A] On site storage should be limited to thirty days of usage_
B] On site storage should be secure and marked.
C] Since the proposed process reuses the dzem'tcal mix its storage
should be over a containment area.
CDS also proposes that the process area be lined with a muttl-layer fiber
reinforced material of at least 30 mil, 45 mil would be better. The barrier
should be bedded on a low abrasion base, 2/3 filled with course material,
layered with filter loth and topped off with a finer material for the work
area. The work area should drain to a lined containment area with a
holding volume of 500% of the working volume [active- mix + spent mix
waiting for reuse]. This pond should be gated to drain to the tailings pond
as a fail-safe for an event exceeding 500%.
