Safety is the first consideration when responding to a spill. Human life or health must not be jeopardized. ~ <br />Be sure the site of the spill/accident is safe before proceeding. Treatment of life threatening injuries takes <br />precedence. <br />2. Use common sense. <br />3. Noti another Team Member, and call for help if needed. <br />4. Stop spill at source (if this can be done safely). <br />5. Stop spread of spill (if this can be done safely). <br />6. Report incident to supervisor as soon as reasonably possible. <br />7. Recover spilled material and place in a contained area or treat to neutralize material. <br />8. Complete Internal Spill Report, after incident is managed. (Appendix A or MS Excel, "File", "New", "Misc.", <br />"S P I LLform"). <br />SECOND LEVEL RESPONDERS (Another Team Member or Supervisor) I! <br />1. Provide first level responders with everything they need to safely and effectively respond to the spill. ! <br />2. Inform the Environmental Resources Department so that proper external notifications can be made per <br />regulations. <br />3. Noti the Safety Department. ~ <br />ENVIRONMENTAL RESOURCES RESPONSE ~ <br />1. Veri field procedures are properly followed. ~ <br />2. Determine information and notification requirements. <br />3. Noti General Manager, if external notifications are required. <br />4. Noti appropriate external entities within regulatory timeframe. Record details of who was informed of <br />what and when, in accordance with the notifications. <br />5. Follow-up with an inspection of the site. Sample as necessary. Complete documentation. ' <br />6. Review incident and implement remedial measures if needed. <br />OFF-SITE SPILL RESPONSE POLICY <br />Due to liability concerns, it is CC&V's policy not to respond to spills caused by other entities, including <br />transporters, unless: <br />1. The spill is within the Cresson Project Area; or <br />2. CC&V has been requested to do so by the responsible party or the local emergency response team AND ~ <br />3.
