Large Spills Outside of Containment Structures <br />i <br />Available earth-moving equipment will be used to excavate a trench and sump system to retain the <br />spill in the immediate vicinity of the spill. Fluids should be recovered- into barrels or tanks quickly to <br />minimize seepage. Straw bales may be used to absorb the remaining fluid. Sorbent soils or <br />commercial sorbents may also be used to absorb the fluid. <br />Spill Response Kits are supplied at the following locations within the mine site including: <br />• Coblentz Building -Aerosol can puncturing station <br />• Secondary Crusher -Aerosol can puncturing station in the Connex Trailer <br />• Truck Shop -Aerosol can puncturing station in the Southeast Corner of the Maintenance <br />Bays <br />• Light Vehicle Shop -Gasoline filter satellite accumulation station <br />• Hazardous Waste Accumulation -Storage room located behind the Light Vehicle Shop <br />• Security Office -Main Gate -Furnace room located behind the Safety office and next to th'e <br />back exit door <br />• Environmental Resources -Storage Area <br />Additionally, the CC&V mobile fuel/lubricant trucks are supplied with materials to contain small spills <br />and can be called on the radio. Use call number J3 for assistance. Both the Wet and the <br />Metallurgical laboratories have spill response kits for their own use. <br />Spill Response Kits may contain: <br />• Absorbent socks <br />• Respirator <br />• Chemically resistant gloves <br />• • Copy of Emergency Response Plan <br />• MSDS for Primary Products and- reference to location for other MSDS (Safety or <br />Environmental Resources Departments) ' <br />4.1.2.6 Inspections and Tank Integrity Testing at the New Truck Shop <br />Tanks and containers with >55 gallon capacity will be inspected on a monthly basis and the form in <br />Appendix G will be used to document the inspection. Records of these inspections will be kept on file <br />in the Environmental Resources Department. <br />Tank integrity testing will be performed according to the plan provided in Appendix J <br />4.1.2.7 Conformance with Regulations at the New Truck Shop <br />Applicable state and local guidelines are assumed to be the same as the Federal Regulations at 40 <br />CFR Part 112, and therefore, under 40 CFR Part 112 the- oil storage containers and secondary <br />containment at the New Truck Shop meet the infent of the oil pollution prevention regulations. <br />4.1.3 Fuel Farm <br />The Fuel Farm is located near the Primary Crusher as shown on Figures 2 and 5. Eight storage <br />tanks and approximately four totes are located within the contained area of the Fuel Farm near the <br />Primary Crusher. Table 6 that follows and the tank inventory in Appendix C provides pertinent details <br />of the storage tanks at the Fuel Farm.
