• <br />EXPECTED OFF-SITE IMPACTS <br />• <br />• <br />The proposed MLE will result in closer proximity of the mining disturbances to <br />two sensitive areas. The mine boundary will be close to the buffer zone that was <br />established on the west side to preserve the historic Cripple Creek Recreation Area. <br />Wetlands will be closer than would have occurred under previous plans. <br />Implementation of the conventional Best Management Practices (BMP's) and the <br />EMPs throughout the Storm Water Management Areas will protect those sensitive areas <br />and will ensure that surface water quality in Grassy Valley and Poverty Gulch will not be <br />affect by storm runoff. <br />The design criteria for storm water structures and BMP's have a proven record <br />for protecting surface water quality in areas adjacent to the mine.
